In the four years that I have received his [Dr. Koss'] care, my medical condition has improved tremendously. Prior to that, I had nearly decided to have a total hip replacement due to avascular necrosis. With Dr. Koss' help, I have been able to avoid surgery and have experienced a significant improvement in hip pain. . . . He is a highly skilled and talented professional.
I have tried many practitioners without success. I have also tried several medications over the years. It is so rare to find a D.O. who finally understands my complexities, and who is able to treat them.
I cannot continue working as a registered nurse without the help of Dr. Koss. Without his help I would likely be on permanent medical disability.
I have been a patient of Dr. Koss for a couple of years. At the time of my first appointment with Dr. Koss, I was in, and had been in, chronic pain in my back and neck, 24/7, for approximately 2 years resulting from injuries incurred while playing recreational soccer and snow skiing. I had seen medical doctors, including the emergency ward at Valley General Hospital, chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists, etc. I was on painkillers, muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories, sleeping pills. . . you name it, I had been on it. I had also had injections into my spine twice with no relief.
I was getting to the end of my rope because none of the treatments were working. Dr. Marquardt at the Bellevue Back and Spine Clinic finally told me that there was nothing more that she could do for me and that she wanted to refer me to Dr. Richard Koss, an Osteopath in Renton. She told me that Dr. Koss was where she sent all of her most difficult to treat patients and that every one of them had bene helped.
I have to tell you that after a few months of seeing Dr. Koss once a month, that I started seeing improvements. After 6 months of treatment, I realized one day that I was no longer in chronic pain 24/7 and that being in pain had become a rare exception, rather than the rule. It was a miracle!!! In addition, I am off all painkillers (except for the occasional sinus headaches), muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories and sleeping pills. I have also reduced my dosage of Zoloft by 75%. These were significant changes to my health and well-being and I know that I would not be experiencing this level of wellness if it weren't for Dr. Koss!!
The next thing we started working on was pain in my hips and chronic sinus infections (every 4 weeks, 12 months of the year) . . . even after sinus surgery! Since Dr. Koss started treating me for my sinus infections in June 2003, I have not had one sinus infection and he has taught me how to prevent sinus infections as well. After taking antibiotic medication for sinus infections for years and being constantly sick, these are very significant results and miraculous, in my opinion!!! Additionally, I had been experiencing pain in my hips, which made it difficult to walk. Due to Dr. Koss' treatment this past year, I rarely experience pain at all. This is VERY good news to a person who was experiencing chronic pain!!!
